I’ve always wondered if mere wanting is enough justification to get something? Or should there be an effort to achieve something of value? This thought I find in many stories, stories of sacrifices in order to achieve something. The greater your sacrifice the greater your achievement or so they say. In real life, however, their degree or equality varies, some sacrifices are too great and some achievements too little. There is a slum near my house and I can hear fighting and fussing constantly. It’s not always clear what the fighting is about but at times it becomes clear as day even during the dark hours. They quarrel for things that I have taken for granted; things like constant running water, electricity, or food that’s not on the table every night.  I then have whole nights to wonder what it is that I have done to be where I am and what have they done to be where they are? Mere luck comes to mind or some may even point to karma. With this also comes a deep sense of gratit...

The mountains have started to show. Their beauty was never lost to me but the seasons have played their part to hide it and hide it well. I’ve longed for these mountains in august rain waiting for September. Though It’s been a long time since I went close to one. However, their magnificence is as white as snow in my memories. The last trek I took was to Annapurna Base Camp. That was almost 2 years ago. I’ll soon be on my way onwards. There are a few ways to do so; we’ll see how that pans out.      Right now sitting on my rooftop on this wonderful September morning, peeking at mountain peaks, I aim for better things to come. Truly how wonderful is it that we can simply sit and pull ourselves up just by breathing and looking around? That to me is one of the many perks of being. Another benefit surely is being able to see these mountains within and without.
In the mercy of strangers ( An evening with kale) I wanted to write about these events 3 nights ago, on the night it happened. I and a friend of mine were waiting for a mutual friend to arrive at his house. That night, a stray dog, kale , started making grueling cries outside his home. It was the first time I heard the ominous sound from him and it struck a chord within me.        The story of kale began a few months ago, when he suddenly appeared in our neighborhood, overnight he became the top dog, given his big size. He was twice as big as the dog that previously held the top dog position in our neighborhood. Street goers and other dogs soon got scared of him and with fear came anger and he got the street treatment from other dogs and idiots alike. In a few weeks, he began to show scars over his body from his mistreatment of this new territory.  Although his quiet way at the very beginning was indicative that this was no ordinary stray, it soon...

The fire always does find way ( A poem ) - Aetherek

Image
One does take liberties with art,  this dance comes from all cosmos, the pain of known, as well as the pain of unknown, as well as Love for the old, hope for the new.   This love grows in the darkest of places, this love shines brighter still upon lands bare, no light but this I could find, snub it I will at times, but the fire always does find way, inside I, me and mine.

She goes away, wishing forever -by Aetherek I’ve come to know, that your mind is hard at work, I speak of you; to you, But ignored, you don’t utter a word, and now I look beneath, your shadow is heading away, I’m kneeled ; hoping with mercy. I only believed you’d choose to stay, But you wish to see me like a dog; a stray. You wish for me to not make it far, So you leave right at the start, Looking for you, is the pain within the art , My life; a vast endless blue to me, Is looking for a needle in the sea.

Dear Mother Sun by Aetherek

Image
( photo: a thursday evening ) Dear Mother Sun By Aetherek When the Sun doth set in the west, taking light away hidden abreast. Does she give time for us to heal or does she give death for us to feel? While her loving nature if turned against can run us amok and catch us wild. Why hurt the child she loves and adores, needing her to clear us in deadly droves ? Mother Nature does wake in her command, birds and trees follow her in their demand. Is it us that are utterly and profoundly powerful or she that chooses not darkness but to be cheerful ?

Blurry but beloved memory of Yours; now and always.

Blurry but beloved memory of Yours; now and always. by Aetherek Of the blurry memory, I have much to remember. When my wild urges became yours in a moment, Just to stay that way forever. Mine was the night or so I thought to be But as I were, it was already in you to foresee, to keep them before they pass. Of the blurry memory, with you that was sweetest. My spirit giving in together with no agenda to protest, It is the memory I aim to protect. To think that it will be again, A blurry memory no more, To worship you and yours, To submit in all that one can pour.

Before Sun Rises

Image
Before Sun Rises by Aetherek As a weary traveler has to start, the journey before sun rays. I have risen up now to get going, moving while everyone lays. I’ve woken up within the night, to prepare ahead for the days Instead this reminds me not of traveling, But of a child waking up with an odd old feeling. That the day has got more a chance to live, If I could somehow, someway offer more to give. For the hours that stay always ahead of me, Not for the forgotten past but the future to see. Having been up long before the birds sing, I can feel the isolation of always a mass being. To reap fruits however I must be the one, With this hour who chooses to outrun none. This state of I should be self contained, Waking up early one may sometimes think That “ I have got all my time drained”.

In today

Image
19/4/2020 (Kathmandu) In today by Aetherek Under the dawn of a new day, I wake hearing sounds; similar, That take me to a frontier; familiar, To the one I’ve had for ages. Desirable even for saints and sages, Today takes a gentle form, Just before it rages, The day takes a gentle form, Just before it raises. To hear birds sing along With my mother’s prayer, Nothing gives gentle peace so. To hear all sing natures song, It isn’t yesterday or tomorrow, But in today I belong, Indeed in today I belong.

Love & Compassion ( thoughts for the future after this pandemic )

Image
Love . n .- deep affection or fondness; Compassion. n . - sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. “ Love and Compassion are the pillars of world peace ”, these were the words inscribed by the holy Dalai Lama and I found myself agreeing to it within my heart. The days that we’re currently living in are ones that will definitely go down in history books for future generations to learn from. In the midst of this pandemic, I find myself with billion others that are staying inside their homes as millions risk their lives in order to protect ours. I ask the reader, if that isn’t the way of love and compassion what is? During these challenging times, I’ve seen people give up hope for the future but it is now necessary for us to think of a future that we will have an active hand to build. The pandemic has shown nations of people around the world that we do not need more nuclear weapons of mass destruction or armies that can’t be challenged by anothe...
